What warehouse pickers and packers do, and what makes a crew good

Pickers and packers are the floor crew of every warehouse: receiving and checking inbound stock, putting it away, picking orders by list, scanner or voice, packing to the packaging standard, labelling, sorting by route, loading outbound vehicles and counting stock. In a UAE e-commerce fulfilment centre the crew grows several times over for the sales periods and shrinks after; in a distribution warehouse it works two or three shifts around the vehicle schedule; in a cold store it rotates in and out of the chill.

A good crew is measured in picks per hour, accuracy and attendance, and all three are set before the first shift. Workers are checked for experience with scanners and warehouse systems, briefed on the site's picking method, packaging standard and safety rules, and rostered with a supervisor who owns the shift's numbers. A crew that arrives untrained costs the operation in mis-picks and returns for weeks.

tamdeed keeps warehouse staff on the bench by role and experience, briefs each crew on your systems and standards with your supervisor before the first shift, rosters them in the platform and scales the headcount from the same charge sheet. Every worker is employed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored and insured by tamdeed, paid through WPS, and checked in at your warehouse with geofenced attendance, so the shift you are billed for is the shift that turned up.

Where warehouse crews are deployed

E-commerce fulfilment centres

Pickers, packers and sorters for order fulfilment in Dubai South, Dubai Industrial City, Jebel Ali and the Sharjah and Ajman estates, scaled for sales periods and launches.

Distribution and 3PL warehouses

Inbound, put-away, picking and outbound crews on two and three shifts around the vehicle schedule, with forklift operators where the racking needs them.

Free zone logistics parks and ports

Devanning, sorting and cross-dock crews in Jebel Ali, KEZAD and the northern ports, with zone pass paperwork handled.

Cold chain and food distribution

Pickers and packers for chilled and frozen stores, briefed on cold-store working patterns, rotation and hygiene.

What is included with every worker

The same employment behind every trade. Nothing is bundled into the wage or left off the record.

Registered employment and sponsorship

Employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract and sponsored on a residence visa by tamdeed. Your site carries no employment liability.

WPS wages every month

Paid through the Wage Protection System from approved attendance, with overtime at the statutory premium and an itemised payslip in the worker app.

Systems briefing and a supervisor who owns the numbers

Experience with scanners and warehouse systems checked; every crew briefed on your picking method, packaging standard and safety rules with your supervisor before the first shift; a tamdeed supervisor supplied where the crew size needs one.

Medical insurance and documents

Cover from day one; Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts in your portal.

Safety induction and PPE

Site safety briefing before the first shift, PPE issued as agreed on the charge sheet, midday break and rest rules enforced by the platform.

Geofenced attendance

Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.

Supervision and replacements

A named tamdeed contact, performance notes against each worker, and replacement from the bench when someone does not meet the standard.

One itemised invoice

Wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport where agreed and administration on separate lines every month.

From brief to first shift

Workers already on the bench mobilise in days; roles that need recruiting or a new visa take longer, and we say which at the brief.

Peak crew or standing crew: how warehouse supply is shaped

How a warehouse crew rate is built

A picker's or packer's monthly rate is the wage plus the real costs of employing the worker, plus administration. Because the wage line is modest, the other lines are a larger share of the rate than in a skilled trade, which is why a quote well below the others is usually skipping insurance, accruals or visa costs rather than finding cheaper pickers.

Peak crews are billed on hours from the attendance record; standing crews on a monthly charge sheet. Government fees change from time to time and are passed through at cost.

Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger crews receive a custom charge sheet built from the same lines, before you commit.

The shift you are billed for is the shift that turned up

Every hour on the invoice is a check-in and a check-out at your warehouse. Peak crews have never had a paper trail like it.

Questions, answered plainly

What is warehouse picker and packer manpower supply?

The supply of pickers, packers, loaders, sorters and inventory staff employed and sponsored by a licensed supplier and deployed to a client's warehouse at an agreed rate, on rosters that scale with volume. tamdeed employs every worker on a registered contract, pays through WPS and bills from a geofenced attendance record.

Can you scale a crew up for a sales period and down after?

Yes. Peak crews are added and removed from the same charge sheet and billed on hours from the attendance record, so a fulfilment centre can staff a sales period without carrying the headcount afterwards.

Do your pickers know warehouse systems and scanners?

Experience with scanners and warehouse systems is checked on the bench, and every crew is briefed on your picking method, packaging standard and safety rules with your supervisor before the first shift. Client-specific system training is arranged with you.

Do you supply forklift operators with the crew?

Yes. Certified counterbalance, reach and VNA operators are supplied with the floor crew where the racking needs them, assessed on your equipment before the first shift.

Do you supply crews for night shifts and cold stores?

Yes. Two and three-shift rosters are set in the platform, and cold-store crews are briefed on rotation, PPE and hygiene.

Who is the legal employer?

tamdeed. Every worker is employed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored on a residence visa and paid through WPS by tamdeed. They report to your warehouse for the work.

How fast can a warehouse crew start?

Workers already on the bench and in the UAE can start within days of an approved charge sheet and a briefing on your systems. Large peak crews are planned with you ahead of the sales period so the recruitment and visas are done in time.

What does a picker or packer cost per month in the UAE?

It depends on the roster, the shift pattern, the contract length and the headcount. tamdeed itemises the wage, government fees at cost, insurance, gratuity and leave accrual, PPE and transport where agreed, and its own administration line.
