Two carpentry trades, and what each does on a UAE site
Carpenter manpower supply in the UAE covers two different trades that share a name. Shuttering carpenters, also called formwork carpenters, build, align and strike the moulds that concrete is poured into: columns, beams, slabs, walls and stairs, in timber and plywood or in proprietary system formwork, working to drawings and to the steel fixers' schedule ahead of every pour. Finishing carpenters install doors and frames, skirting, wooden flooring, ceilings, wardrobes and joinery in the fit-out stage, and workshop carpenters make the joinery itself.
The two are graded and tested differently. A skilled shuttering carpenter sets out and assembles formwork to line, level and dimension, understands props, ties and strike times, and works safely at height. A skilled finishing carpenter measures, cuts and fixes to a finish that will be seen. Semi-skilled carpenters work under direction on repetitive assembly, and carpenter helpers carry, cut to instruction and strip.
tamdeed keeps both disciplines on the bench, tests each carpenter in the work they will actually do, and supplies the helpers and the foreman that a formwork gang or a fit-out crew needs. Every carpenter is employed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored and insured by tamdeed, paid through WPS, and checked in at your site with geofenced attendance.
Other trades we supply
Every trade page describes the same employment and the same charge sheet; only the work changes.
Where carpenters are deployed
Structure: towers, villas, infrastructure
Shuttering gangs by floor cycle or by plot, working with the steel fixers ahead of each pour, sized to the pour programme.
Civil and infrastructure works
Formwork for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tanks and substations, including system formwork crews.
Fit-out and joinery installation
Finishing carpenters for hotels, offices, malls and residential handover programmes: doors, frames, flooring, ceilings, wardrobes.
Joinery workshops and manufacturers
Workshop carpenters and machine operators for door, kitchen and furniture production on shifts.
What is included with every worker
The same employment behind every trade. Nothing is bundled into the wage or left off the record.
Registered employment and sponsorship
Employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract and sponsored on a residence visa by tamdeed. Your site carries no employment liability.
WPS wages every month
Paid through the Wage Protection System from approved attendance, with overtime at the statutory premium and an itemised payslip in the worker app.
Practical trade test in the right discipline
Shuttering carpenters assemble and align a formwork test piece; finishing carpenters cut and fix a test piece to a visible finish. Certificates and experience are stored against the profile, and you can attend the test.
Medical insurance and documents
Cover from day one; Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts in your portal.
Safety induction and PPE
Site safety briefing before the first shift, PPE issued as agreed on the charge sheet, midday break and rest rules enforced by the platform.
Geofenced attendance
Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.
Supervision and replacements
A named tamdeed contact, performance notes against each worker, and replacement from the bench when someone does not meet the standard.
One itemised invoice
Wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport where agreed and administration on separate lines every month.
From brief to first shift
Workers already on the bench mobilise in days; roles that need recruiting or a new visa take longer, and we say which at the brief.
- 1
Brief
Headcount, grade mix, site, start date, duration and shift pattern, plus any site pass or client induction the job requires.
- 2
Match and verify
Bench carpenters by discipline first, recruitment where needed. Trade tests run in the discipline you are buying, documents checked, helpers and a foreman matched to the gang, the grade mix confirmed to you.
- 3
Charge sheet
Every monthly line, or the hourly rate for short cover, approved in your portal before anyone moves. Government fees at cost.
- 4
Mobilise and track
Induction, transport where agreed, geofenced check-in from the first shift, payroll and invoices running on the platform.

Shuttering or finishing: buy the right carpenter
The same word on a quote can mean two different workers. Say which, and the test and the wage line follow.

How a carpenter rate is built
A carpenter's monthly rate is the wage for the discipline and grade plus the real costs of employing the worker, plus administration. Skilled finishing carpenters and system-formwork carpenters typically sit on a higher wage line than general shuttering carpenters; helpers and strippers on the lowest.
Formwork gangs are priced by grade, with the foreman on his own line. Government fees change from time to time and are passed through at cost.
Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger crews receive a custom charge sheet built from the same lines, before you commit.

Questions, answered plainly
What is the difference between a shuttering carpenter and a finishing carpenter?
A shuttering carpenter builds, aligns and strikes formwork for concrete and works in the structure stage with steel fixers. A finishing carpenter installs doors, frames, flooring, ceilings and joinery in the fit-out stage. They are tested differently and sit on different wage lines; tell us which you need.
Do you supply shuttering carpenters as a gang?
Yes. A formwork gang is skilled shuttering carpenters, semi-skilled carpenters, helpers and strippers, and a foreman, sized to the pour programme. Each grade is its own wage line on the charge sheet.
How do you test a carpenter?
In the discipline you are buying, before the carpenter is confirmed to you: a formwork test piece assembled and aligned to dimension for shuttering, a cut-and-fix piece to a visible finish for finishing work. You can attend or set the test.
Can you supply carpenters for a workshop rather than a site?
Yes. Workshop carpenters and carpentry machine operators are supplied to joinery and furniture manufacturers on the same terms, rostered to the workshop's shifts.
Do you supply carpenters in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?
Yes, in every emirate, with transport to remote sites scheduled and shown as its own line. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have their own pages.
Who is the legal employer?
tamdeed. Carpenters are employed on MOHRE-registered contracts, sponsored on residence visas and paid through WPS by tamdeed. They report to your site for the work.
How fast can carpenters mobilise?
Carpenters already on the bench and in the UAE can be on site within days of an approved charge sheet. Disciplines that need recruiting, or carpenters coming from abroad on new visas, take longer because the visa process sets the pace.
What does a carpenter cost per month in the UAE?
It depends on the discipline, the grade, the site, the contract length and the headcount. tamdeed itemises the wage, government fees at cost, insurance, gratuity and leave accrual, PPE, tools and transport where agreed, and its own administration line.
Tell us which carpenters, and where
Discipline, headcount, site and dates. A tamdeed adviser replies with availability and an itemised rate.
