What a helper does on a UAE site
A helper, also called a general labourer, is the unskilled or semi-skilled worker who keeps a site or a plant moving: unloading and stacking materials, mixing and carrying, preparing and clearing work areas, assisting a mason, carpenter, steel fixer or electrician, loading vehicles, sweeping and site housekeeping, and the hundred tasks under supervision that no skilled trade should be spending its hours on. Helpers are the largest single group on almost every construction, industrial and warehouse site in the UAE.
The grade matters more than the name. A general helper is placed on any task under a supervisor. A trade helper works behind one trade, learns its preparation and becomes semi-skilled with time. A loader or yard helper works to the movement of goods. Experienced helpers who have shown a skill are graded up and their wage line moves with them, which is how a supplier keeps good people and a client keeps a stable crew.
tamdeed employs every helper on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsors the residence visa, pays through WPS and issues PPE and a safety induction before the first shift. Midday break rules in summer, daily and weekly rest and overtime premiums are enforced by the platform, and attendance is geofenced at your site, so the hours you are billed for are the hours worked.
Other trades we supply
Every trade page describes the same employment and the same charge sheet; only the work changes.
Where helpers are deployed
Construction and infrastructure
Structure, block work, finishing and external works gangs, where one to two helpers work behind each skilled tradesman and a foreman runs the gang.
Industrial plants and workshops
Production helpers, packers, quality helpers and store helpers on two and three-shift patterns in the Sharjah, Ajman, KEZAD and Dubai Industrial City estates.
Warehouses, ports and logistics
Loaders and unloaders, yard helpers and pickers who scale with the volume through peaks, launches and vessel schedules.
Facilities, events and grounds
Maintenance helpers, setup and teardown crews, landscaping helpers and waste handling crews on contracts across communities and venues.
What is included with every worker
The same employment behind every trade. Nothing is bundled into the wage or left off the record.
Registered employment and sponsorship
Employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract and sponsored on a residence visa by tamdeed. Your site carries no employment liability.
WPS wages every month
Paid through the Wage Protection System from approved attendance, with overtime at the statutory premium and an itemised payslip in the worker app.
Fitness, experience and briefing
Identity, right to work, medical fitness and experience verified; helpers with a trade background flagged for trade-helper roles; every worker briefed on the site and the task before day one.
Medical insurance and documents
Cover from day one; Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts in your portal.
Safety induction and PPE
Site safety briefing before the first shift, PPE issued as agreed on the charge sheet, midday break and rest rules enforced by the platform.
Geofenced attendance
Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.
Supervision and replacements
A named tamdeed contact, performance notes against each worker, and replacement from the bench when someone does not meet the standard.
One itemised invoice
Wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport where agreed and administration on separate lines every month.
From brief to first shift
Workers already on the bench mobilise in days; roles that need recruiting or a new visa take longer, and we say which at the brief.

General helper, trade helper or semi-skilled
Three grades that get quoted as one. The right one depends on what the skilled trade needs behind it.
| General helper | Trade helper | Semi-skilled | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Works | On any task under a supervisor | Behind one trade, preparing and assisting | Trade tasks under a skilled worker's direction |
| Checked for | Fitness, experience, safety induction | Experience with the trade | A basic practical test |
| Best for | Material movement, housekeeping, external works | Block work, formwork and MEP gangs | Repetitive trade work at volume |
| Wage line | Lowest | Slightly higher | Between helper and skilled |
How a helper rate is built
A helper's monthly rate is the wage for the grade plus the real costs of employing the worker, plus administration. Because the wage is the smallest of any trade, the other lines are a larger share of a helper's rate than a tradesman's, which is why a quote well below the others is usually skipping insurance, accruals or the visa costs rather than finding a cheaper helper.
For short cover the same monthly cost is billed on hours or days from the attendance record. Government fees change from time to time and are passed through at cost.
Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger crews receive a custom charge sheet built from the same lines, before you commit.

Questions, answered plainly
What is helper manpower supply?
The supply of general labourers and trade helpers, employed and sponsored by a licensed supplier and deployed to a client's site under the client's supervision at an agreed rate. tamdeed employs every helper on a registered contract, pays through WPS and bills the hours from a geofenced attendance record.
How many helpers does a crew need?
On structure and block work most gangs run one to two helpers behind each skilled tradesman, with a foreman for every ten to twenty workers. Warehouse and production crews are sized to the volume and the shift. Brief the task and we propose the grade mix.
Do you supply helpers in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?
Yes, in every emirate. Helpers for KEZAD, ICAD Mussafah and Al Ain, and for the Sharjah industrial areas, Sajaa, Hamriyah and SAIF Zone, are supplied from the same bench with transport scheduled and shown as its own line where the site needs it.
Do helpers need a trade test?
General helpers do not; they are checked for fitness, right to work and experience and given a site safety induction. Trade helpers are matched on experience with the trade, and semi-skilled workers pass a basic practical test before they are confirmed to you.
Can I get helpers for a few days or weeks?
Yes. Short cover for a peak, a shutdown or a project phase is billed on hours or days from the attendance record, with every worker on the same registered employment as a long-term crew.
Who is the legal employer?
tamdeed. Helpers are employed on MOHRE-registered contracts, sponsored on residence visas and paid through WPS by tamdeed. They report to your site for the work.
What about the midday break and overtime?
During the summer midday break period outdoor work stops in the prohibited hours and the record is kept on the platform. Overtime above contracted hours is paid to the worker at the statutory premium from approved attendance and billed at the rate on the charge sheet.
What does a helper cost per month in the UAE?
It depends on the grade, the site, the contract length, the shift pattern and the headcount. tamdeed itemises the wage, government fees at cost, insurance, gratuity and leave accrual, PPE and transport where agreed, and its own administration line, so a helper quote can be compared with any other like for like.
