What on-demand labour means in the UAE, and what it must not mean
On-demand labour in the UAE is the supply of workers at short notice for short periods: a crew for a week, a shutdown, a container to unload, an event to set up, a site to clear, a peak to cover. The supplier keeps a bench of employed workers in the country, deploys them within days of a request, bills the hours or days actually worked, and stands them down when the job ends. The client gets people without a lead time and without a commitment; the supplier carries the employment.
What it must not mean is what it often means in practice: unregistered workers moved between sites for cash, uninsured, unpaid through WPS, with no contract and no record. That version is cheap for a day and expensive on the day an inspector, an accident or a wage complaint arrives, because the liability lands on the client's site. On-demand does not change the law; every worker still has to be employed, sponsored, insured and paid through the Wage Protection System by someone with the licence to do it.
tamdeed runs on-demand labour from the same platform as long-term supply. The bench is employed by tamdeed on registered contracts and residence visas, briefed and graded before they are ever requested, and checked in at your site with geofenced attendance, so the invoice is built from the record and a two-day crew has the same paper trail as a two-year one. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger short-notice crews are quoted the same day.
On-demand, temporary, contract or ongoing: pick the shape
Four services that get sold under one word. The test is how long, how billed, and how much notice.
When companies call for on-demand labour
The gap that appeared this week
A crew short, a subcontractor gone, an order landed early. Helpers, trades or warehouse staff from the bench within days, for as long as the gap lasts.
Shutdowns, turnarounds and peaks
Plant maintenance windows, sales periods and stock counts staffed for the window and stood down after, billed on the hours worked.
Events, exhibitions and activations
Setup and teardown crews, ushers, registration and hospitality staff for the days of the event, briefed to the brand's standard.
Trial before a long-term contract
A crew on hours for a fortnight before a monthly supply agreement, so both sides see the standard before committing.
What on-demand labour includes
Everything an employer owes, carried by tamdeed even for a day.
A bench that is already employed
Workers on the bench are employed by tamdeed on MOHRE-registered contracts and sponsored on residence visas before they are ever requested. There is nothing to process when you call.
Graded and briefed in advance
Skilled trades trade-tested, helpers checked for fitness and experience, everyone inducted on safety, so a same-week crew is not an untested crew.
WPS wages for every hour
Hours from your gate's attendance record flow to the payslip and are paid through the Wage Protection System, overtime at the statutory premium.
Insurance and documents in date
Medical cover, Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts, so nobody arrives with a lapsed document.
Geofenced attendance
Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.
Transport where the site needs it
Scheduled and shown as its own line, so a short job to a remote site is priced honestly.
Replacements the same day
No-shows replaced from the bench, with attendance and performance notes kept against each person.
One itemised invoice
Hours by role, wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport and administration on separate lines.
From request to first shift
Roles on the bench mobilise in days. Roles that need recruiting are not on-demand, and we say so at the request.
- 1
Request
Roles, headcount, site, start date and how long: through the form, WhatsApp or a call. Add any site pass or induction the job requires.
- 2
Availability and rate the same day
Bench availability confirmed and an hourly or daily rate per role, with overtime treatment and transport, sent for approval in your portal.
- 3
Brief and mobilise
The crew briefed on your site and task, transport scheduled where agreed, geofenced check-in from the first shift.
- 4
Bill from the record, stand down when done
Hours worked become the invoice; the crew rolls off when the job ends or converts to monthly supply if you want to keep them.
Roles kept on the bench for on-demand requests
Both collars where the notice allows. Licensed activities such as security are not supplied.

How an on-demand rate is built
An hourly or daily rate is a worker's full monthly employment cost divided by the hours actually worked. Because a short job spreads the visa, insurance and administration costs over fewer hours, the rate per hour is higher than a monthly rate per hour, and it is not more expensive per month. A quote that matches a monthly rate per hour for a two-day job is skipping something.
Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger short-notice crews are quoted the same day from the same lines. Government fees are passed through at cost.
Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Your rate sheet shows the hourly or daily rate per role and every line behind it before the crew moves.
Build your charge sheet
Pick the grade, the site, the term and the hours, and watch which lines appear, which are at cost and which one is tamdeed's. No market rates, no bundled number.
Turns the statutory accruals into dirhams on your own assumption. tamdeed does not publish market wages; the wage on a real charge sheet is agreed with you by role and grade.

Short cover is the same monthly cost divided by fewer hours, which is why an hourly rate looks higher and is not more expensive per month.

A two-day crew with a two-year paper trail
Every hour on the invoice is a check-in and a check-out at your site, and every worker on it has a contract, a visa and insurance in your portal. On-demand has never worked like this.

Questions, answered plainly
What is on-demand labour supply?
The supply of employed, vetted workers at short notice for short periods, mobilised from a bench within days and billed on the hours or days actually worked. tamdeed keeps the bench employed on registered contracts and visas, checks workers in at your site with a geofence and builds the invoice from that record.
How fast can on-demand workers start in Dubai?
Roles on the bench, which covers helpers, most site trades, warehouse, cleaning and event staff, can be at your gate within days of an approved rate sheet, subject to any site pass or induction. Roles that need recruiting are not on-demand, and we say so at the request.
Is there a minimum booking?
No fixed minimum. Very short jobs are billed on hours or days from the attendance record; the rate reflects the length, because employment costs are spread over fewer hours. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers.
Are on-demand workers legally employed?
Yes. Every worker on the bench is employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored on a residence visa, insured and paid through WPS, even for a single shift. Your site carries no employment liability for them.
Can an on-demand crew convert to monthly supply?
Yes. Many clients trial a crew on hours for a fortnight and then move to a monthly charge sheet for the same people. The record and the paperwork carry over.
Do you supply on-demand labour outside Dubai?
Yes, in every emirate. Sharjah and Ajman industrial areas are supplied from the same bench with daily-wage and shift crews; the northern emirates and Al Ain with transport shown as its own line.
How is a short job priced?
Per hour or per day by role: the worker's monthly employment cost divided by the hours worked, with transport and overtime treatment stated up front. The rate sheet shows every line, so an hourly figure can be compared with any other quote.
What happens if a worker does not turn up?
A replacement is sent from the bench the same day where one is available, and the no-show is recorded against the worker's profile. You are billed only for the hours checked in at your site.
