What a mason does on a UAE site, and how the trade is graded

A mason on a UAE site lays block work to line, level and plumb, builds and finishes plaster to the specified thickness and tolerance, sets floor and wall tiles to pattern and falls, and fixes stone and marble, working from drawings and a supervisor's setting out. Block masons and plasterers carry the structure and envelope of villas, towers and infrastructure; tile and stone masons carry the finishing programme. Almost every mason works with one or two helpers who mix, carry and prepare.

Masons are graded by what they can do to a standard, not by years claimed on a CV. A skilled mason passes a practical test: a section of block wall or a plaster panel built to line and level in a set time, a tiled panel to pattern and joint width. A semi-skilled mason works repetitive block or plaster under a skilled mason's direction. The grade sets the wage line and the productivity a contractor can plan on.

tamdeed keeps masons on the bench by specialism and grade, runs the trade test before a mason is confirmed to a client, and supplies the helpers and the foreman with the gang where the contract needs them. Every mason is employed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored and insured by tamdeed, paid through WPS, and checked in at your site with geofenced attendance.

Where masons are deployed

Villas and low-rise communities

Block work and plastering gangs by plot, moving with the programme from foundations to finishing.

Towers and podiums

Block masons and plasterers by floor cycle, tile and stone masons through the finishing sequence, with a foreman per gang.

Infrastructure and external works

Boundary walls, kerbs, paving, stone cladding and hard landscaping crews for roads, parks and communities.

Fit-out and refurbishment

Tile and stone masons for hotels, malls, offices and residential refurbishments, on short programmes with tight tolerances.

What is included with every worker

The same employment behind every trade. Nothing is bundled into the wage or left off the record.

Registered employment and sponsorship

Employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract and sponsored on a residence visa by tamdeed. Your site carries no employment liability.

WPS wages every month

Paid through the Wage Protection System from approved attendance, with overtime at the statutory premium and an itemised payslip in the worker app.

Practical trade test

Every skilled mason builds a test section to line, level and plumb, or a plaster or tiled panel to the tolerance, before being confirmed to you. Experience and certificates are stored against the profile; you can attend the test.

Medical insurance and documents

Cover from day one; Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts in your portal.

Safety induction and PPE

Site safety briefing before the first shift, PPE issued as agreed on the charge sheet, midday break and rest rules enforced by the platform.

Geofenced attendance

Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.

Supervision and replacements

A named tamdeed contact, performance notes against each worker, and replacement from the bench when someone does not meet the standard.

One itemised invoice

Wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport where agreed and administration on separate lines every month.

From brief to first shift

Workers already on the bench mobilise in days; roles that need recruiting or a new visa take longer, and we say which at the brief.

Every monthly line, or the hourly rate for short cover, approved in your portal before anyone moves. Government fees at cost.

Skilled, semi-skilled or helper: what a mason gang is made of

How a mason rate is built

A mason's monthly rate is the wage for the grade and specialism plus the real costs of employing the worker, plus administration. A skilled tile or stone mason earns more than a block mason, and both earn more than a helper; the rest of the rate is the same set of lines for every worker.

Gangs are priced by grade: masons, helpers and the foreman each on their own wage line. Government fees change from time to time and are passed through at cost.

Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger crews receive a custom charge sheet built from the same lines, before you commit.

Questions, answered plainly

What is mason manpower supply?

The supply of masons employed and sponsored by a licensed supplier and deployed to a client's site at an agreed rate, usually as a gang with helpers and a foreman. tamdeed trade-tests every skilled mason, employs them on registered contracts, pays through WPS and bills from a geofenced attendance record.

Do you supply tile masons and stone masons as well as block masons?

Yes. Block, plastering, tile, stone and marble, kerb and paving, and screed masons are kept on the bench by specialism, each trade-tested in their own work.

How do you test a mason?

A practical test before the mason is confirmed to you: a section of block wall to line, level and plumb, a plaster panel to thickness and finish, or a tiled panel to pattern and joint width, in a set time. You are welcome to attend or set the test piece.

Can you supply the helpers with the masons?

Yes, and most clients do. Helpers, a charge hand and a foreman are supplied with the masons in the ratio the work needs, each on their own wage line on the charge sheet.

Do you supply masons in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain?

Yes, in every emirate, with transport to remote sites scheduled and shown as its own line. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have their own pages because the sites and the logistics differ.

Who is the legal employer?

tamdeed. Masons are employed on MOHRE-registered contracts, sponsored on residence visas and paid through WPS by tamdeed. They report to your site for the work.

How fast can a mason gang mobilise?

Masons already on the bench and in the UAE can be on site within days of an approved charge sheet. Specialisms that need recruiting, or masons coming from abroad on new visas, take longer because the visa process sets the pace.

What does a mason cost per month in the UAE?

It depends on the specialism, the grade, the site, the contract length and the headcount. tamdeed itemises the wage, government fees at cost, insurance, gratuity and leave accrual, PPE and transport where agreed, and its own administration line, so a mason quote can be compared like for like.
