What a plumber does on a UAE site, and how the trade is graded

A plumber on a UAE project installs the water supply, drainage and sanitary systems of a building: PPR, PVC, uPVC, copper and HDPE pipework, first fix in walls and floors, second fix of sanitary ware, water heaters and fittings, testing under pressure and commissioning, working to the MEP drawings under the contractor's engineer. Maintenance plumbers on facilities contracts find and fix leaks, blockages and failures across towers, communities and campuses, on rosters with response times.

The trade is graded by what a plumber can install and test unsupervised. A skilled plumber reads the drawing, sets out the runs, makes joints in each material that hold under test and second-fixes to a finish; an assistant plumber cuts, fixes brackets and joins under direction; a plumber's helper carries, chases and clears. Pipe fitters for industrial and process piping are a separate trade with their own page.

tamdeed keeps plumbers on the bench by discipline and grade, tests each skilled plumber on joints and a pressure test before they are confirmed to a client, and supplies the assistants, helpers and the supervisor an installation team or a maintenance contract needs. Every plumber is employed on a MOHRE-registered contract, sponsored and insured by tamdeed, paid through WPS, and checked in at your site with geofenced attendance.

Where plumbers are deployed

MEP and building services contractors

Installation teams by floor or by package: first fix, risers, second fix and testing, with a supervisor who reads the drawings.

Villa and community developers

Plumbing crews by plot for water supply, drainage and sanitary installation across villa programmes, ramped by handover phase.

Facilities management contracts

Maintenance plumbers on towers, malls, communities and campuses, rostered to response times, with attendance geofenced at the asset.

Hotels, hospitals and refurbishment

Second-fix and refurbishment plumbers for room programmes and back-of-house works on short programmes with handover deadlines.

What is included with every worker

The same employment behind every trade. Nothing is bundled into the wage or left off the record.

Registered employment and sponsorship

Employed by tamdeed on a MOHRE-registered contract and sponsored on a residence visa by tamdeed. Your site carries no employment liability.

WPS wages every month

Paid through the Wage Protection System from approved attendance, with overtime at the statutory premium and an itemised payslip in the worker app.

Practical trade test: joints and pressure

Every skilled plumber makes joints in the materials the site uses and holds a pressure test before being confirmed to you. Certificates and experience are stored against the profile; you can attend the test.

Medical insurance and documents

Cover from day one; Emirates ID, labour card and medical fitness tracked with expiry alerts in your portal.

Safety induction and PPE

Site safety briefing before the first shift, PPE issued as agreed on the charge sheet, midday break and rest rules enforced by the platform.

Geofenced attendance

Check-in and check-out at your site from the worker app, so the hours you are billed are the hours worked.

Supervision and replacements

A named tamdeed contact, performance notes against each worker, and replacement from the bench when someone does not meet the standard.

One itemised invoice

Wage, government fees at cost, insurance, accruals, transport where agreed and administration on separate lines every month.

From brief to first shift

Workers already on the bench mobilise in days; roles that need recruiting or a new visa take longer, and we say which at the brief.

Bench plumbers by discipline first, recruitment where needed. Joint and pressure tests run, documents checked, assistants and a supervisor matched to the team, the grade mix confirmed to you.

  3. 3

    Charge sheet

Every monthly line, or the hourly rate for short cover, approved in your portal before anyone moves. Government fees at cost.

  4. 4

    Mobilise and track

Induction, transport where agreed, geofenced check-in from the first shift, payroll and invoices running on the platform.

How a plumber rate is built

A plumber's monthly rate is the wage for the discipline and grade plus the real costs of employing the worker, plus administration. Skilled plumbers sit on one of the higher wage lines in site trades; assistants and helpers on lower ones; the rest of the rate is the same set of lines for every worker.

Maintenance contracts are usually monthly supply; installation programmes are priced by phase. Government fees change from time to time and are passed through at cost.

Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Live pricing applies to one to ten workers; larger crews receive a custom charge sheet built from the same lines, before you commit.

Questions, answered plainly

What is plumber manpower supply?

The supply of plumbers employed and sponsored by a licensed supplier and deployed to a client's site or contract at an agreed rate, usually as a team with assistants and helpers. tamdeed tests every skilled plumber, employs them on registered contracts, pays through WPS and bills from a geofenced attendance record.

How do you test a plumber?

On joints and pressure, before the plumber is confirmed to you: joints in the materials your site uses, held under a pressure test, and second-fix work to a finish where the role needs it. You can attend or set the test.

Do you supply maintenance plumbers for facilities contracts?

Yes. Maintenance plumbers are supplied to facilities companies and building owners on monthly supply, rostered to the contract's response times, with attendance geofenced at the asset.

What is the difference between a plumber and a pipe fitter?

A plumber installs building water supply, drainage and sanitary systems in PPR, PVC, copper and HDPE from MEP drawings. A pipe fitter installs process, utility and chilled-water piping in steel from isometrics, fitting up for the welder. They are separate trades with separate tests and wage lines; the pipe fitters page covers the second.

Can you supply a whole installation team?

Yes: skilled plumbers, assistant plumbers, helpers and a supervisor, sized to the package or the floor cycle, each grade on its own wage line.

Who is the legal employer?

tamdeed. Plumbers are employed on MOHRE-registered contracts, sponsored on residence visas and paid through WPS by tamdeed. They report to your site for the work.

How fast can plumbers mobilise?

Plumbers already on the bench and in the UAE can be on site within days of an approved charge sheet. Roles that need recruiting, or plumbers coming from abroad on new visas, take longer because the visa process sets the pace.

What does a plumber cost per month in the UAE?

It depends on the discipline, the grade, the site, the contract length and the headcount. tamdeed itemises the wage, government fees at cost, insurance, gratuity and leave accrual, PPE, tools and transport where agreed, and its own administration line.
