What temporary staffing means in the UAE
Temporary staffing in the UAE is the supply of workers for a defined, short period, from a single event day to a season or a project phase, by a licensed supplier that employs the workers and deploys them to the client. The client directs the work for the engagement; the supplier carries the employment contract, the work permit, the WPS wages and the insurance, and bills for the period or the hours worked.
It exists because UAE employment is not designed for a two-week hire. A work permit is issued against an employer and a residence visa needs a sponsor, so a business that needs forty people for an exhibition cannot sensibly sponsor forty visas for ten days. A temporary staffing provider holds a ready, employed workforce and moves it between clients under the Ministry's temporary and part-time work permit rules.
tamdeed runs temporary staffing on the same platform as its long-term supply: staff are briefed from the worker app, check in at your venue with geofenced attendance, and the invoice is built from those hours. When a temporary need turns permanent, the same people can move to a long-term supply contract without a re-hire.

Temporary, on-demand or long-term supply?
The same employed workforce, three contract shapes.
| Temporary | On-demand | Long-term supply | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical length | Days to a few months | Single shifts and short notice | Six months to years |
| Billed on | Hours or days from the attendance record | Hours, per shift | A monthly rate per worker |
| Best for | Events, peaks, projects, cover | Gaps, no-shows, sudden surges | Contracts and permanent operations |
| Notice to scale down | End of the engagement | None | As agreed in the charge sheet |
How temporary staffing is priced
Temporary roles are priced per hour or per day, built from the wage and the employment costs of a properly employed worker and billed on the hours in the attendance record. Short engagements carry a higher hourly figure than a long-term monthly rate because the employment costs are spread over fewer hours; the lines behind the figure are the same.
Live pricing covers one to ten staff; larger events and seasons receive a rate sheet built from the same lines.
Illustrative structure, not a tariff. Your rate sheet shows the exact rates per role before the engagement starts.
Build your charge sheet
Pick the grade, the site, the term and the hours, and watch which lines appear, which are at cost and which one is tamdeed's. No market rates, no bundled number.
Turns the statutory accruals into dirhams on your own assumption. tamdeed does not publish market wages; the wage on a real charge sheet is agreed with you by role and grade.

Short cover is the same monthly cost divided by fewer hours, which is why an hourly rate looks higher and is not more expensive per month.

Questions, answered plainly
What is temporary staffing?
Temporary staffing is the supply of employed workers for a defined short period, from a single day to a season or a project phase. The supplier employs the staff, holds the work permits and pays the wages through WPS; the client directs the work for the engagement and is billed for the period or the hours worked.
Is it legal to hire temporary staff in the UAE?
Yes, through a supplier licensed by MOHRE to supply labour, using the temporary and part-time work permits the Ministry provides for exactly this. What is not legal is paying people cash in hand without a permit, which is why tamdeed employs every temporary worker and pays through WPS.
What is the minimum engagement?
A single shift for on-demand roles, and a day for most event and retail roles. Rates are higher per hour for very short engagements because employment costs are spread over fewer hours.
How quickly can temporary staff start?
People already employed and in the UAE can be briefed and deployed within days, and for common roles sooner. Specialist roles that need recruiting take longer, and we say so at the brief.
What if someone does not turn up?
The coordinator replaces them from the bench, usually while the shift is still running. Attendance is geofenced, so you only pay for people who were there.
Can temporary staff become permanent?
Yes. When a temporary need turns into an ongoing one, the same people can move onto a long-term supply contract, or be recruited onto your own licence through our recruitment service, without a re-hire from scratch.
Do you supply for events in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as well as Dubai?
Yes, across all seven emirates, including ADNEC, Expo Centre Sharjah, DWTC and hotel and venue events everywhere in between.
How much does temporary staffing cost in the UAE?
Per hour or per day by role, built from the wage, the amortised permit and insurance costs, briefing and coordination, and tamdeed's administration line. The rate sheet shows each line before the engagement starts, and the invoice is built from the geofenced attendance record.
